ABBOTSKERSWELL & Lustleigh will make a fourth attempt on Friday night to play their Valeport-sponsored Brockman Cup semi-final, writes Conrad Sutcliffe.
The first two efforts at playing the game at Torquay were called off due to bad weather. The teams assembled again at Torquay last Sunday where rain stopped play during Abbots’ second innings when they were 46 for three chasing 161 to win.
James Fulner (60) and Jon Wright (56) had been Lustleigh’s main run scorers in a total of 160 for three. They put on 126 for the first wicket.
Lustleigh won coin-toss in the Torquay pavilion for the privilege of hosting Friday’s game.
Safely through to the final are Paignton 3rdXI, who overcame Teignmouth & Shaldon by 37 runs in a 15-over affair at Queen’s Park.
Opener Sam Simcox hit 41 for Paignton in their total of 117 for four. Seb Linnett (3-13) took three of the wickets to fall.
Linnett then top scored for Teignmouth & Shaldon with 38, but no one else made more than 13 as T&S slipped to 80 all out. Jack Smith took three wickets for six runs and there were two each for Max Pedley and Rio Kioyarra.
