
BIDEFORD defeated Bridestowe & Belstone by a single wicket in a last-ball thriller at Westward Ho|
When Martin Stewart faced the last ball of the game, to be bowled by Shaquan Glasgow, all three results were possible. Stewart (16no) managed to scramble a leg bye with 15-year-old Woody Moseby, to earn his side a famous victory.
It had all started well for B&B as captain Tallan Burns chose to bat after winning the toss, and saw his team rack up 221 for six.
Openers James Ewen (24) and Andrew Brimacombe (41) laid a solid foundation. Glasgow injected some impetus to the innings, hitting 67 not out from 50 balls. Twenty-nine from Will Bancroft, and 39 extras and helped.
Elliot Curry (2-16) was the pick of the Biddy bowlers
Bideford’s chase was dominated by a 136-run partnership for the fourth wicket between Fawaaz Gallie (58) and veteran James Ford (62). Both were dismissed by Glasgow (2-41).
Earlier, Bideford skipper Jack Ford hit 26, and Joseph Woolnough took three for 26 for B&B.
Newton Tracey made the short trip to Barnstaple & Pilton, where they won by a comfortable six-wicket margin.
Barnstaple & Pilton were indebted to stepbrothers Matt Newton (75) and Dominic Chugg (38) who put on 104 for the fourth-wicket. Their stand helped B&P to a 40-over total of 173 for six.
Opener Andrew Fewings chipped-in with 19; Frankie Allen contributed 16. The prolific Domi Moore took three for 22 for Newton. Parth Rathod had two more.
Newton timed their reply perfectly, winning with nine balls to go. There were runs through the card for Newton. Sumit Ghangas (21) and Graham Persson (22) led from the front. Once they were dismissed, the baton was picked-up by Dom Cottrlll (40no) and Bhaveshkumar Patel (50) took Newton to the brink, and allow skipper Dom Robson (14no) to see his side home
Nomansland belatedly started their campaign with a five-wicket win over visiting Victoria Park in a low-scoring affair
Victoria Park struggled against all of the home bowlers. Only openers Nitin Mathews (25) and Keiron Whitehead (11) reached double figures as they laboured to an all-out score of 78.
Home captain Will Martin used eight parsimonious bowlers. Ash Wreford (3-5) was the standout.
Nomansland needed just under 19 overs to reach their target. Elliot Butterfield top scored with 26. Jacob Cole hit a brisk 19 to see his side home. Prince Joseph took a couple for The Park.
Lynton & Lynmouth won by 124 runs at Braunton after amassing 245 for nine. Opener Vishnu Kombath cracked 169 not out.
Connor Constable and Fred Batt had three wickets each wickets for the victorious L&L
The games between Heathcoat and Westleigh, and Exford and Holsworthy, were rained off.
