Devon Cricket Welcome New Club & Community Coaches

Devon Cricket is delighted to welcome two new Club & Community Coaches, with Martin Brice being appointed to North Devon and Jack Ormsby taking over in West Devon.

Club & Community Coaches are responsible for our schools delivery, in partnership with Chance to Shine, and the promotion of ECB All Stars and Dynamos Cricket. They also work with clubs in their area to develop junior cricket opportunities, coach development as well as other ECB club programmes.

MARTIN BRICE - NORTH DEVON

Martin joins the Devon Cricket staff as North Devon coach, having previously worked on Chance to Shine programmes in North Devon between 2005 and 2015. He has extensive experience working in cricket in the region in many roles, including as a player, coach, junior co-ordinator and team manager.

"I'm looking to put junior cricket in North Devon back on the map!

"I want to use my experiences to work closely with clubs to build, and hopefully expand, a strong network of clubs, coaches and organisers to benefit the development and delivery of cricket opportunities for the next generation of players in the area."

Martin has been in post since late April and has already got stuck into the role:

"I've hit the ground running as this is the busiest period for School Programme delivery, schools competitions and the start of the club season. I've also been getting up to speed on All Stars and Dynamos, and meeting with key partners in the locality. Summer Term is looking just as busy with more of the same!"

Martin has also been involved with the Devon Cricket Performance Pathway over the past two decades and is currently Lead Coach of the Under 14 Boys County Age Group.

JACK ORMSBY - WEST DEVON

Jack joins Devon Cricket this week from Premier Education, replacing Vicky Reeve who has moved to the Wicketz Development Officer role.

"I've always had a massive interest in trying to get as many people involved in cricket as I can. I've wanted to be a coach since I was 14, so having the opportunity to go into schools to deliver Chance to Shine programmes and get as many people involved as I can was always an aspiration of mine; so I'm happy to be getting the chance to do it with Devon Cricket.

"I'm excited to get going and hit the ground running!"
