Safeguarding is everybody’s responsibility.
Whatever your role in cricket, everyone should understand the importance of keeping children, young people and adults safe.
Safeguarding Level 2 (SGL2)
This qualification replaces the Safeguarding for Specialist Roles qualification.
Safeguarding Level 2 is the new course from the Cricket Regulator safeguarding team on behalf of the ECB, which has replaced the old Safeguarding for Specialist Roles (SSR) courses. Robust safeguarding helps to keep our cricket community safe and welcoming. This course will provide the learner with what to look out for and how to respond to concerns.
Training for Club Safeguarding Officers
Club Safeguarding Officers need to complete three sets of training:
- Safeguarding Level 2.
- A 'top up' online module - 'Safeguarding for Committee Members and Club Safeguarding Officers'.
- A face-to-face ‘Safe Hands' workshop which is run by the local County Cricket Board (Devon Cricket Foundation).
Upon booking a face-to-face 'Safe Hands' workshop you will automatically be enrolled on the online modules.
These courses should be updated every three years.
ECB DBS check
Your club Safeguarding Officer should have the ability to initiate and verify DBS checks. If this is not the case then we can set up DBS checks from the office. The following information needs to be sent to info@devoncricket.co.uk
- Full Name (including Title)
- Date of Birth
- Preferred Email Address
- Club associated with
- Role which requires a DBS e.g. All Stars Activator, Junior Manager, Umpire
We will then initiate your online ECB DBS application form. You should then receive an email from the DBS system, asking you to complete and submit the form. Once you have done this, you will receive an email from the ECB confirming your application and details of approved verifiers in your postcode area. Please arrange a face-to-face meeting with one of these verifiers to have your evidence and application authorised. Please note that you will require the 3 forms of evidence that you detail on your application form available at the meeting with your verifier.
If you cannot arrange a meeting with a verifier local to you, please contact us at info@devoncricket.co.uk
